Not long ago, the head of TCL Industry revealed that TCL will continue to expand into the Brazilian market, introducing white goods such as refrigerators and washing machines to the Brazilian market in addition to its existing television, air conditioning, and mobile phone businesses.
It is reported that Midea's new factory in Bausso, Minas, Brazil, has an area of more than 70000 square meters and an annual capacity of 1.3 million units. This factory will integrate a large amount of digital production technology and innovative technology, and the first batch of smart refrigerator products will be put into production and offline in July next year, and will be launched and sold simultaneously. The product will not only be supplied to the local market, but also be sold to other markets in South America. Midea built its third factory in Brazil in the city of Bauso.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Wang Jianguo, Vice President of Midea Group, President of the Smart Home Business Group, and President of Midea International, stated that this factory is Midea's first investment in Baosuo City, covering household appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines. He also stated that Midea aims to become one of the leading brands in the Brazilian refrigerator industry within four years.
Similarly ambitious is TCL. Previously, Yue Haiping, the general manager of TCL Industrial's overseas marketing headquarters in Brazil, stated in an interview with China Electronics News that through the operation of TCL and SEMP dual brands, TCL has fully covered the Brazilian market. At present, TCL (TCL+SEMP) ranks third in the Brazilian television market with a market share of 18.8%. In 2022, the market share of TCL air conditioners produced and shipped in Brazil exceeded 7%.
Brazil has become one of the important strategic markets for Chinese home appliance companies overseas. Midea currently has two factories in Brazil, one located in Manaus, producing household air conditioners and microwave ovens; Another company is located in Canoas and produces commercial air conditioners.
In recent years, TCL has deeply cultivated the Brazilian market and jointly established a joint venture company SEMP TCL with the well-known local electrical enterprise SEMP in 2016. In 2020, the equity delivery was completed and TCL Brazil branch was established. In April of this year, TCL's Manaus Television Factory in Brazil will take down its 10th million television units. TCL plans to introduce white goods such as refrigerators and washing machines to the Brazilian market for sale in July.
