2023 China International Consumer Electronics Exposition (CICE) and Qingdao International Software Convergence & Innovation Expo (hereinafter referred to as Software Expo) open on the morning of May 17. Themed “Intelligence and Digital Technologies for A Better Future”, the two expos are held concurrently to showcase the latest trends and accomplishments in hardware and software of the industry. Experts and business leaders gather at the expos to discuss the integrated development of the digital economy and the real economy.
CICE is an international expo specializing in consumer electronics approved by the State Council. It is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Shandong Provincial People’s Government, and is organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government. The expo has been successfully held for 19 sessions. The Software Expo, hosted by Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, has been held for 6 sessions.
Qingdao, as a city of manufacturing, is fully implementing the guidelines of the 20th CPC National Congress, acting on the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Shandong and Qingdao, following the new development philosophy in the new development stage accurately, comprehensively, and in its entirety, proactively serving and getting integrated into the new development paradigm, deepening growth drivers transformation, revitalizing the real economy, and building a modern industrial system.
Qingdao has a strong foundation in home appliances and electronics. It has gained the approval to establish National High-end Intelligent Home Appliances Innovation Center, the only national-level manufacturing innovation center in home appliances. There are more than 2,200 companies in the industrial cluster, including 17 national manufacturing vertical champions and 1,297 high-tech firms.
The two expos this year integrate with each other to reflect the global trend of digitalization and the new round industrial revolution by providing an exchange and cooperation platform for precise matchmaking and two-way investment promotion. They are crucial in driving Qingdao's industrial digitalization, fostering the convergence of industry and digital technologies, and promoting the development of a robust manufacturing sector in Shandong province. They also contribute to building China’s strength in manufacturing and cyberspace and boosting the development of a digital China.
The expos, focusing on the global development trends of consumer electronics and software and based on the local characteristics of Qingdao, set four thematic sections, namely, chip and display smart control, virtual vision and audition, AI application, and Qingdao empowered by the industrial Internet. With a total exhibition area of 50,000 m2, the expos have over 300 exhibitors from home and abroad, creating a record in the history of the exhibition.
Exhibits include products of Three-winged Bird, the smart home scenario brand of Haier which provides a one-stop smart home experience, Hisense’s global first 8K laser TV, Aucma’s high-end Linglong home appliances system that uses temperature technology that covers the full temperature zones, BOE’s eye-friendly display that setting international benchmarks for eye care, Samsung’s commercial display device and smart cellphones, Huawei’s new HarmonyOS smart home scenario product, Goertek’s VR dynamic seat with leading algorithm and good sensory experience, AInnovation’s new industry-facing product AInnoGC, etc. The 2023 CICE and Software Expo feature presence of both local brands and industry leaders. Through immersive scenarios of the exhibiting brands, a prospect of future smart life has been unfolded, showing not only high-tech and the latest products and technology, but also the development and consumption trends of the electrical appliances and electronics industry.
The high-quality forums held during the expo include one forum of business leaders summit and 7 high-level parallel sessions, attended by more than 100 participants including academicians, world-acclaimed business leaders, and representatives of business associations, who engage in high-level dialogues on digital economy empowering the real economy, digital industry empowering city’s development, etc., presenting a feast of ideas and thoughts.
Innovation is the perpetual driving force for industrial development. As a repertoire of the CICE, Leader Innovation Awards, after 9 successful sessions, is upgraded this year by working with the National High-end Intelligent Home Appliances Innovation Center to solicit innovative product and design solutions in consumer electronics globally, which covers smart electrical appliance, smart medical care, smart transportation, virtual display, and other emerging areas, as well as frontier application of intelligent sensors in consumer electronics products. Based on the innovation ecosystem of the two expos, Leader Innovation Awards open more possibilities for precise matching between industry, academia, and research institutes and faster commercialization of research findings, provide a technology bank for constant technology and product update and iteration for companies and facilitate smoother interactions between the upstream and downstream links on the industrial and innovation chains.
Complemented by a series of concurrent activities, the expos will form a multi-dimensional platform for industrial resources matchmaking, bringing together quality resources from the government, industry, academia, research institutes, financial institutions, intermediaries, and application, so as to keep making the industrial chains of relevant industries stronger, longer and more resilient, in a bid to make Qingdao a city of choice in China for consumer electronics investment.
